Fires Installation & Servicing

Our Gas Safe registered engineers are accredited for Installation, servicing & removing a gas fire

A gas fire can create and enhance your lounge to offer a warm, cosy feel whilst also being an efficient source of heat. A flueless gas fire can offer even more flexibility in terms of installation and matching your decor.

Flueless or conventional fire?

Flueless:

The technology behind flueless gas fires are similar to that of a modern catalytic converter in a car. Flueless gas fires provide a safe 100% efficient fire without the need of a chimney or flue.

  • 100% efficient
  • No problems with associated flues or chimney
  • Can be mounted on practically any inside or outside wall and location
  • Can be installed in practically any room (excluding sleeping areas and bathrooms)
  • All fires feature safety sensors such as oxygen depletion sensors
  • Many models, styles and finishes available
  • Inset and wall hung models available
Conventional:

Conventional gas fires generally refer to class 1 gas fires, these are fires that use a chimney stack or pot.

  • Use your original chimney or flue
  • A wide choice of designs and finishes
  • Easy to install
  • Wide range of heat outputs
  • Ideal with traditionally designed homes

If you are looking to change to an electric fire or remove the fire completely we are able to safely remove your current fire for you and then complete your new gas fire installation

As with a boiler, a gas fire should receive an annual service, not only could this save you money but it will ensure the fire is working correctly and not allowing high levels of co2 or C0 into your room.

The process of installing a gas fire involves several steps, including:

Site selection

We will identify a suitable location for the gas fire, often on an external wall.

Gas line routing

We will determine the best route for the gas line, which may be under floorboards or outside.

Gas pipe installation

We will install the gas pipe and prepare it for connection.

Flue installation

If a flue is required, we will drill a hole in the wall to install the flue and external vent.

Fire unit installation

TWe will place the fire unit into the opening, secure it, and ensure it's level and aligned with the wall.

Gas connection

We will connect the fire unit to the gas supply and check that all connections are secure and leak-free.

Initial inspection

We will perform an initial inspection to ensure all connections are sound.

Gas supply connection

We will connect the gas pipe to the mains and test for adequate gas supply and no leakage.

Certificate

We will sign off the work and provide a certificate.

The time it takes to install a gas fire depends on the type of installation:

  • Existing fireplace: Installation in an existing fireplace takes about five to six hours.
  • Vent-free gas fire: Installation of a vent-free gas fire takes about three to four hours because it doesn't require a chimney, vent, or flue.
  • No existing gas fireplace: Installation of a gas fire without an existing gas fireplace takes about one to two days.
